Bangalore Institute of Technology (BIT) is one of the most sought after institute for engineering students. The foundation of Bangalore Institute of Technology was laid in the year 1979 by the great national poet Kuvempu. Kuvempu's well known lines - “O nannachetana, Aagu nee aniketana” (Be unhoused O my soul, only the infinite is your goal") is embedded in the environment of BIT. Having a firm belief in the societal technological prosperity, the then AICTE chairman and the founder Principal of BIT, Dr. S. Ramegowda engraved BIT's motto as "Technology for Prosperity”. The institute is centrally located within a 5 kms distance from Kempegowda Bus station & within 200 meters from nearest metro station facilitating its students with ease of transportation on a daily basis. BIT has seen a phenomenal growth in the last four decades bringing innovation to every road it has travlled. B.I.T is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Karnataka and approved by AICTE New Delhi. BIT offers 13 undergraduate programmes, 06 Postgraduate programmes and has a well established 13 R&D centre. Out of the 13 UG programmes, 09 UG programs are accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. BIT is also recognised under section 2 (f) & 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956. BIT was awarded NAAC A+ Grade.
