The HKE Society envisioned starting a program in architecture with the aim to cater to the needs of the Building and Construction Industry in the northern region of Karnataka. The Department of Architecture was established under the aegis of PDA College of Engineering in the year 1983-84 with an intake of 40, approved by the Council of Architecture and affiliated to Gulbarga University.
The Department of Architecture celebrated its “Silver Jubilee” in 2009 and has achieved many feats and awards. Its alumni have spread all over the globe, serving the building industry in various positions.
In 2015, the intake was enhanced from 40 to 80 by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi.
To strengthen the Architecture Program, the HKE Society’s Governing Council, in its meeting dated 29-05-2019, resolved to convert the Department of Architecture into a standalone School of Architecture. On 21st September 2021, the HKE Society’s proposal to name the School of Architecture as “Poojya Dr. Shivakumar Swamiji School of Architecture” was approved by the Council of Architecture.
The school has a team of well-experienced and highly qualified postgraduate faculty members from prestigious universities and institutions such as Bangalore University, SPA Delhi, IIT Roorkee, RVCA Bengaluru, MSRIT, JNAFAU-Hyderabad, DOMUS – Italy, and many other reputed institutes.
Key Highlights: PDSS School of Architecture, Kalaburagi, stands tall as a beacon of academic excellence and innovation in Karnataka. It offers a holistic learning environment where students can hone their skills under the guidance of experienced faculty members.
