The institution is established in the year 1996 with a sole objective of providing technical education to the rural community of north Karnataka. It made the beginning with 4 streams, namely CSE, ECE, EEE, ME and Civil Engg.was introduced later. The institute is accredited at 'A' grade by NAAC and Programmes accredited by NBA are: CSE, ECE, EEE & ME. The institute is affiliated to VTU, Belagavi and recognised by AICTE, New Delhi. The institute has provided the state of art laboratories, library and transport facilities to the students. It has highly qualified faculty and supporting staff.

The college listed at serial No. E040 in the KEA CET bulletin and Serial No. E111 in Comed-K. The institute has been spread over on 48.26 acres of land and the campus has all the basic amenities for the overall development of the students with spacious infrastructure. Training and Placement Cell is actively developing the students to the expectation of the Industry. It is grooming technically competent engineers to serve the industry and society with the human values. The campus hosts Academic blocks, Staff quarters, Gym facilities, Hostels, Bank, Canteen, Clinic and transportation facility which makes the HIT experience truly enjoyable.
